The German-American Center / James-F.-Byrnes-Institut e.V. is a non-profit institution which provides information on social, cultural, political, and economic issues in both countries. In addition to our vastÌýcultural program, we offer English courses taught by American teachers, special programs for schools (America Explained – DAZ for Schools), an English library and an advising service for teenagers and young adults.

As part of our USA information service, we offer unbiased advising for teenagers and young adults who would like to spend some time abroad in the US. Topics that we advise on include:

You can also find us at educational fairs in Stuttgart and at International Days/Study Abroad fairs at local universities on a regular basis.
We hold orientation sessions on specific topics (for example student visa, gap year options, etc.) and offer intercultural trainings for outgoing students. Ìý
Library
Our library offers English fiction and non-fiction books, magazines, newspapers, TV series and movies on DVD as well as computers for research and access to eLibraryUSA. Furthermore, we have a section dedicated to going abroad including preparation material for tests like TOEFL, SAT, ACT, GMAT, and books that help with your research and planning process.Ìý
