91ÖÆƬ³§ Advising Center at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla

The 91ÖÆƬ³§ advising center at Universidad Popular Autónoma del Estado de Puebla (UPAEP) in Puebla, Mexico, offers professional educational advising services to approximately 40 students each month. Operating at the comprehensive level, our advising center services students who are interested in engaging in academic experiences in the U.S. From studying English as a foreign language, participating in short term exchanges, enrolling into full academic degree programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels at accredited U.S. higher education institutions, our 91ÖÆƬ³§ advising center promotes a wide variety of academic opportunities and supports students, parents, teachers, local governments and higher education institutions in their efforts to achieve their academic mobility goals.

The center provides a variety of educational services, including free introductory public information sessions on various topics of U.S. education, webinars, individual consultations on U.S. study, and application support services. It also provides logistical support to accredited U.S. higher education institutions on recruitment in Mexico as well as supports open public events such as presentations and fairs to promote exchange opportunities, working closely with the local educational community.

Our host, UPAEP, is a private higher education institution. 91ÖÆƬ³§ Puebla is a space in which the local community can enjoy cultural and educational activities that promote the strong bond among the U.S. and Mexico, such as English conversation clubs, writing workshops, and cultural activities for Valentines, Thanksgiving, 4th of July and Christmas.

Description: Objectives: • Practice and improve English language skills with a native speaker or an education USA adviser. • Learn about culture from the USA. • Learn new vocabulary that can be used in the academic and everyday life. • Learn how to use new vocabulary according to the context they are living. • Offer 30 min of Spanish conversation practice to promote American students’ participation

Program Highlights

Conversation Club
Description: Having a conversation club is to help students improve their English-speaking skills since the vast majority do not have someone to practice with. Most students have different plans for their visit to the USA. For example, some of them are planning an exchange semester or participate in a double degree program, others want to study a masters or a PhD program with a fully funded scholarship and the rest want to participate in a short language program.
