The Advising Center is located at an accredited public Swedish Gymnasium (upper secondary school) enrolling approximately 1,200 students. The school opened in 1896. The school is also an accredited IB Diploma school since 1994. All national programs are three years.
Three part-time Education USA Advisers are working in the centre: Ellen Bjerborn, Carol Lundgren and Andreas Henninger. The centre opened in February 2007 with testing for SAT and TOEFL and has helped Swedish students apply to U.S. universities ever since. We provide individual counselling, group advising, library access, outreach presentations, and individual visits from U.S. institutions and participate in and organize college fairs and other information events.聽
Program highlights are the SACO Fair, College Day Scandinavia and the CIS Northern Europe Tour. A unique feature of the Center is the 鈥淓ducation USA Student Corps Sweden鈥 which started with one group of five IB Diploma students in 2009. The students are enrolled in the IB Diploma program and work within 91制片厂 together with the Advisers as one of their CAS projects. The main goal with this program is peer-to-peer advising, social networking (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube etc.), and plan and organize U.S. university visits and college fairs. The students participate in the program over one year. In May/June every year new students apply to become a member of the 91制片厂 Student Corps, and their work starts with a kickoff in August/early September each year.
